Explore the art of stitching with hands-on lessons covering sewing machine skills, overlocking, fabric exploration, and crafting chic tote bags and zipper purses. PLEASE NOTE: You can bring your own sewing machine or request for the Centre's sewing machines hire.
Term 2, 2024 – Thursdays
Class Dates: 2 May 2024 – 20 June, 2024
Time: 6:15pm - 8:15pm
Duration: 8 weeks (Once a week - Thursdays)
Cost: $220 full fee or *$180 Concession
and $50 materials fee
The cost of materials and tools is not included, so be prepared to spend $50 for material fee.

Course Overview:
Session 1 - introduction to sewing machine, learning to thread the machine and test out stitches. Sampler to take home.
Session 2 - Using the basic skills we learnt in session 1, students will learn how to make a scrunchie and learn how to use elastic.
Session 3 - Students will create a tote bag, with an introduction to the over-locker.
Session 4 - Learning to sew a zipper and making a zipper purse further exposure to the over-locker.
Session 5 - Repairs & Alterations. Participants to bring in garments that need repairing or alterations.
Session 6 - T-shirt Project. Students to use the over-locker to create a basic Tshirt.
Session 7 & 8 - Last two weeks we will focus on a simple chosen garment students vote for and spend the time over week 7 & 8preparing our fabric, sewing and finishing.
Bookings are only confirmed after receiving completed enrollment form and payment.
Unless a class is postponed or cancelled by SKCC, refunds and transfers are only considered when a written request is received 10 days before your course begins.
An administration fee of $35 applies. No refunds are given once a course has commenced. If you fail to attend a class that you have paid for, you will not receive a refund. Classes may be cancelled due to insufficient enrolments. If your class is cancelled by SKCC, you will receive a full refund. SKCC reserves the right to alter or postpone courses, or to change fees, teachers or locations if unforeseen circumstances occur.
If you enroll in a Pre-accredited course, we will require additional information. You will need to fill in a detailed enrolment form.
If there is a medical emergency, you authorise SKCC to seek appropriate care on your behalf and you accept full responsibility for expenses incurred.
